Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal Confirmed For “EA Sports MMA”
Add Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal to the list of names that have been confirmed for the upcoming video game titled “EA Sports MMA“.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com was recently able to confirm Lawal’s involvement in the game through sources close to the fighter.
What is currently unknown is what weight class Mo will be featured in, as he is more than willing to compete in the 185, 205 and heavyweight divisions. If there are going to be multiple weight class fighters involved in the game, Lawal will surely be one of them.
The title is slated for release in 2010 and is currently being developed by EA Tiburon, who have been responsible for the widely successful Madden NFL series.
Fighters currently confirmed for the game include Fedor Emelianenko, Bas Rutten, Randy Couture, and Gegard Mousasi among others.

Not trying to look like a UFC mark but they do have way more fighters on their game roster. I know EA makes great games cause i buy them all but i dont know if it will be able to keep up with the new UFC game coming out in 2010 as well. I have the UFC game now and cant stop playing man.

The list of fighters for this game is getting better by the day but who knows if it will get to a point where it will have enough fighters to be competitive with the UFC I can only play with Fedor, Rogers, Sobral, Couture, Hieron, Mousasi, and Lawal so many times.

It might be somewhat competitive to the hardcore fans like us who actually know these fighters, but name power sells more than you’d think. People actually will buy a game with Chuck Liddell on it, even though it may or may not be worse, rather than the game that has Gegard Mousasi (who would beat Chuck 99 times out of 100).

and thats my point Makington. Im still buying this game anyways and not cause of the names but cause its a EA Sports game. Tiger Woods, Madden, baseball, hockey, Fight Night all their sport games are great. Even the soccer games. They even branched out to role playing games that I love as well. YES IM A BIG KID WHEN IT COMES TO VIDEO GAMES. Hardcore fans will buy this game cause they are Hardcore fans, but to the new fans are going to want to be GSP, or the Anderson Silva, Lesnar. But the more exsposer Strikeforce gets before than the better the game will be

Goddamit every time i see Mauro Ranallo is commentating I get pissed off. Great list though if all those fighters make it into the game it should be fun as hell to play. Im interested in seeing if they let fighters in opposite weight classes fight against each other unlike Undisputed.

Why would Shinya Aoki be i an American game? He has nothing to do with American MMA other than the fans that drool over the idea of him coming here. Fact is, he’d get way more money doing something with Japan, and he’s like Anderson Silva over there, people would go nuts for him.
I agree with moose that EA typically is the king of sport games and I’m very excited to see how they will put this together, but it’s a shame that they might get completely overshadowed by THQ only because we don’t get the mainstream fighters.
Course there’s about a zillion improvements to be made on UFC Undisputed so maybe they will make a great game and people will catch on, but that has never been the case before.

Huh, they are putting together a better roster of fighters than I realized they could. Throw some more of the Dream fighters in there and I think they have the makings of a pretty good roster.
Anyone know how long of a contract the UFC signed with THQ? It wouldnt shock me to see the UFC and EA partner up after the THQ contract is over. EA has the marketing and name recognition to really push the games sales.

This maybe a little too much in to the video game side of things, but what really pisses me off about the UFC game is the lack of DLC (downloadable content). I mean f*ck they should be putting more fighters into that game as downloadable packs. Fight Night has at least one that I know of. Where is Guida, TUF 9 winners, ect. If EA wants to beat THQ they will put out DLC with fighters that are new or were left off of the disc. If I buy this game I will have to play it muted because I can not stand f*cking Mauro Ranallo.

UFC signed the likeness of every fighter under contract over to THQ for life. That was why Jon Fitch was fired for a bit, because he wanted to do like a 5 or 10 year deal instead and wouldn’t sign. It bites for EA, but it’s more about gameplay than the fighters to me. It would be cool if they added some popular lady fighters like Gina(obviously), or Erin Toughill.
As for extra fighters, I don’t know what THQ was up to. They did all the modeling for fighters like Nate Quarry and War Machine and Clay Guida, but they didn’t make the final game. Clay I know it was because of his long hair made major frame rate issues making him unplayable but I don’t know what the deal was for the other fighters they modeled.
