Melvin Manhoef and Alistair Overeem in action during K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final 16 tonight Live on HDNet

K-1 SeoulNotable mixed martial artists Melvin Manhoef and current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem will both be throwing down in separate match-ups taking place in Seoul, Korea, and airing live this evening on HDNet at 12:30 am PT (3:30 am ET).

Sixteen of the world’s most lethal knockout artists will be going at it during the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final 16, in the beginning of a tournament format that will come to it’s conclusion in December from Japan.

Manhoef will be facing off with none other than “The Flying Gentleman” Remy Bonjasky. A man he is extremely familiar wit, having faced off with Bonjasky twice during K-1 competition in the past, suffering defeats on both occasions. Redemption will without a doubt be on Manhoef’s mind in Korea.

Overeem will have his hands full as he steps in the ring against Peter Aerts. Now if you’re not familiar with Aerts and his specialty; they call him “The Dutch Lumberjack” because he has a long history of leaving some of the most feared men in the world in a comatose state from big punches, and more often, brutal head kicks. Cro Cop has nothing on this guy. He’s also a three-time winner of he K-1 crown. Should be an amazing fight to watch between these two.

Semmy Schilt vs. Daniel Ghita should be a crowd pleaser. Schilt has a long history in MMA, and can also lay claim to having won the K-1 World GP more times than any man before him. Ghita is a scary Romanian with the most barbaric leg kicks I’ve ever seen in my life. This is a big opportunity for Ghita and Schilt will be hungry to redeem himself after being knocked out in embarrassing fashion to Badr Hari in a recent bout.

Other notable fighters in action will be the previously mentioned Badr Hari, along with Glaube Feitosa, Jerome Le Banner and many more.

Below is a full list of the line-up for tonight’s bouts:

Semmy Schilt vs Daniel Ghita

Remy Bonjasky vs Melvin Manhoef

Badr Hari vs Zabit Samedov

Peter Aerts vs Alistair Overeem

Errol Zimmerman vs Glaube Feitosa

Musashi vs Jerome Le Banner

Keijiro Maeda vs Ruslan Karaev

Ewerton Teixeira vs Singh Jaideep
