DMX set to make MMA debut in Alabama?
It’s currently being reported that best-selling rap artist DMX will be making his fighting debut against a man by the name of Eric Martinez.
Thunder Promotions recently announced the bout between the two, along with a headlining bout between Tank Abbott and Butterbean, for an event titled “Alabama Pride” set for December 12 from Birmingham, Alabama.
DMX, real name Earl Simmons, is the fifth best-selling rapper in the history of the genre, selling over 30-million units during his time in the industry.
Little is known about his opponent Eric Martinez, but 5 Oz. has been able to confirm that he is a CEO of Powermoves Entertainment, and has done business with DMX in the past.
While this card seems to be far from official, FiveOuncesOfPain.com is actively trying to confirm or deny reports of DMX’s participation in the event.

Thunder promotions website claims it is only an “Exhibition Boxing Match”. Either way, movie offers must have dried up for dmx.

Butterbean mentioned this fight with Tank a couple weeks ago after his last fight with Tom Howard (who’s 0-8), but he said DMX would be fighting Busta Rhymes on this card. Obviously that fell through and I wouldn’t be surprised if DMX doesn’t end up fighting at all.
Anyway call it a guilty pleasure or whatever you want Tank vs Butterbean is something I want to see.

Checked out ThuderPromotions.com and they are billing it as a ‘BOXING Match’ not MMA. Also people don’t know but DMX is small without Tims on… 5′8 MAYBE 170lbs… My bet is this doesnt go down but it would be sick to see him in the octagon for real

As much as we all know how hard Tank hits, Butterbean hits way harder, and Tank isnt known for his ability to bob and weave, I take Butterbean by ko here.

Butterbean by KO. He has way more power and compared to Tank is an actual tank, cardio or ground game will not be a factor in this fight.
As far as the DMX bout goes I would be interested for purely entertainment reasons, but it does seem a bit bogus with his opponent being a former business associate.
