Exclusive: Edgar Garcia vs. DaMarques Johnson set for UFC 107
A welterweight bout between heavy handed Arizona based slugger Edgar Garcia and TUF 9 runner-up DaMarques Johnson has been set for UFC 107.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com has been able to confirm the bout through sources close to the match-up.
UFC 107 is set for December 12, from Memphis, Tennessee, with a lightweight championship between B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez expected to headline.
Garcia recently obtained “Fight of the Night” honors in his UFC debut against “Bad” Brad Blackburn at the TUF 9 Finale in June of 2009. A bout he ended up dropping by the narrowest of margins in a hard fought split decision. Prior to the loss, Edgar had gone undefeated in his professional fighting career, winning five of his seven victories by way of either TKO or knockout.
Johnson is a veteran of the fight game with a respectable record of 9-7. His last appearance saw him on the losing end of a rear-naked choke at the hands of James Wilks in the final round of 170 pound bracket during the TUF 9 Finale.

Is the Thiago Alves/Paulo Thiago fight official? I really don’t want to see this fight.
Much rather see Alves fight someone like Paul Daley or Anthony Rumble Johnson.
I know Ive heard it on a few other sites metal so it has to be close to official if it hasnt been specified yet. If this weren t the case I would love for Alves to fight Swick but I think we know that is not happening.
Gouveia vs Belcher should be a pretty good fight as both guys are pretty good in all areas, but Gouvia has the better submission game.
DeMarques was pretty good on the show.. I had high hopes for him in the finale.. Unfortunately, he showed us the PERFECT example of the “Octagon Jitters”..
He looked like a completely different fighter (In his defense, so did Wilkes) and he got absolutely worked.. I’ll be rooting for him here..
Belcher has cardio, therefore there is absolutely no reason he should lose to Wilson Gouveia.
I think Edgar should take this fight relatively easily as well. Demarques is good, but I don’t think he will ever be talked about.

True. Belcher has better cardio.. But Gouveia has that “HOLY S**T WHAT JUST HAPPENED!” factor, where he catches guys coming in..
You have to be careful fighting a guy like him, cause he’s never quite out of the fight, and if you get too comfortable, he’ll put you to sleep..
I think Belcher’s smart enough to stay away from that, though..
Man, I wish Wilson would work his cardio and get more serious.. He’d be devastating..

He’d be amazing IF he worked on cardio like you said Rich. In fact, he probably has more pure talent than any others at ATT. However, he doesn’t train even close to how he should be, and it’s obvious when he can’t even get to round 2 without gassing completely. Belcher however can do 3 well-paced rounds, and as long as he doesn’t do something really dumb, he should easily win.
And about UFC 108 on wiki, it would be a good match up, but it’s wiki, so I’l believe it when I see legitimate MMA sites post it up.
