Dana White was upset that the potential cash cow lost a fight, and of course if Dana White says something there’s a group of people that will always parrot him.

Big Country did exactly what he said he was going to do, he put Kimbo in a crucafix and hit him until the fight was stopped, nothing but a good win for Nelson.

Dana White needs to learn to shut up and show more respect to all fighters wether he sees them as cash cows or not.

Kimbo’s still going to be in the UFC, he’ll still get hyped and with some luck (for Dana White) he’ll win a couple of gimme’s and they’ll set up a title shot.

Terrible T what fight were you watching. The guy got hit about 3 times. He had about as dominant of a win as you could have considering he didnt wanna do anything to damage himself later in the show.

Dana was embarrassed about Roy celebrating as if he’d really put on a great show.If Roy hadn’t have acted like what he so FANTASTIC I doubt Dana would’ve said anything.Roy even went on to say that he was glad to have had such an impressive performance in front of Dana and quote unquote,”Now everybody sees that I’m definitely the favorite to win this thing.” Keep dreamin’ Roy! Even if you are the guy that going to win it nobody but you sees it yet………….

I’m with Guy Gaduois and Angry Mike here.

1. Comparing what Roy Nelson did to what Machida does is like comparing a toddler drawing within the lines of a coloring book and a painting by Picasso. Sure they’re both art, but no one is paying to see the kid’s coloring sheet.

2. Let’s not forget Roy basically acted like an idiot after he won the match. He’s pretty much the most experienced guy there and in very unimpressive fasion beat one of the weaker fighters there, does that really warrent running up to Dana and acting a fool? I don’t think so.

3. I quote, “This isn’t about the fans at home for the guys in that house. It’s about what’s best for them and their families. It’s abut getting that win and being able to go on to that next fight. That’s the bottom line.”

I disagree with this to an extent. If the fans don’t care/don’t want to see you fight then you’ll end up out of the octagon in no time.

Perfect article.

Dana White can say this or that, but he wasn’t the one getting in the cage with Kimbo. It’s not like he dragged out the fight to a decision, he won by TKO, what’s wrong with that?

Also I think Rampage’s team did very little to help Kimbo with his takedown defense.

Oh and now I hate Rampage, he’s an ass.

I agree with Makington on this issue, Dana was wrong how he disrepected Roy. Granted Roy has no chance against Brock but he did a good job against over -hyped Kimbo.

As it was, I missed all the Nelson haters last night but I really didn’t expect it to go any other way. Hell, I wouldn’t stand with Kimbo when it’s so easy to take him down and get an easy win.

Dana came off like an idiot when he bashed Nelson, who did infinitely more than Mike Madsen (I think that’s his name) from episode one who barely threw one punch against Abe Wagner. However, Dana only had good things to say about the first fight, and bad things about this one. I realize why he does it atleast. He belittles Roy’s win to make it seem like more of a fluke and more of a cowardly win so that people still want to see Kimbo fight. If he went out there and said how terrible Kimbo’s performance was and that he was a failure, nobody would want to see Kimbo again, who has HUGE potential as a money-maker for the UFC.

Overall, good win for Roy, and I hope he goes far.

I stopped reading as soon as you compared Roy to Machida. Machida ko’d Rashad and Thiago Silva in highlight reel fashion. You can’t possibly compare Machida or what Machida did to win the belt with what happened last night. Many of Nelson’s punches wouldn’t have torn wet tissue paper. He got the win, so good for him. Let’s keep some perspective, though. It wasn’t anything to write home about.

P.S. What’s with the three guys showing their abs? It’s nauseatingly close to gay porn. Bring back the chick in the leather corset with the –how do I say this–impressive pectorals.

Go back and watch the Kimbo/James Thompson fight and you’ll see it.
Thompson had him in that position in the 1st rd. but Kimbo got out of it, more a result of an error by Thompson than any great escape by Kimbo and then he got him in it again in the second rd. and kept him like that until he was saved by the bell.

I’m sure Nelson saw that fight and new he could do the same thing. Good game plan but not a shocking prediction by Nelson he just put Kimbo in the same spot that gave him problems in the past.

The big surprise was IMO Dana White coming out and basically saying I can’t stand Roy Nelson’s attitude and he didn’t do anything special and the guy didn’t want to get hit and hits like a little girl.

Well I guess we know 3 things now #1 that Dana wants the guys on TUF to not only go out and try to win but take damage in the process so you’re hurt advancing in the competition . #2 someone please beat Roy Nelson so I don’t have to see his fat fucking face again, and #3 Dana’s kid puts him in the crucifix position and hits like Roy Nelson.

I mean can anyone think of another fight where Dana bashed the guy who not only won, but pretty much dominated his opponent? It was not only unexpected, but totally uncalled for. It was as if he was saying yeah TUF fans Kimbo lost, but the guy who beat him did everything he could to avoid getting hit because Kimbo is the toughest guy at the barbecue.

The last two weeks have demonstrated the primary weakness of the heavyweight division – the weight differential. No other weight classes features a possible 59 pound differential at weigh in. Last night’s bout is the worst case scenario. I agreed with Quinton (end of the world must be coming) when he said it was like trying to fight “with the moon on top of you.”

Comparing the lay and pray, flop and slop, playing patty-cake with the top of K. Ferguson’s head that Nelson did – comparing that to Lyoto Machida’s fight style is easily the most inappropriate comparison I’ve ever read. The fight style last night is everything that has been wrong with the heavyweight division in the past.

How can we even compare the incredible athleticism of fighters like Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, “Easter Island” Todd Duffey, and a legend like Nogueira with what was displayed last night? It’s not even remotely close to the same template. Styles make fights, and if I want someone to fight a section of road or dominate a sofa, Roy Nelson has just that style.

Look, we’ve seen heavyweights who move and engage like lightweights – as a promoter, which product would you rather sell? That fight was a throw back to Tim Sylvia style – but at least Tim Sylvia leaned on guys while standing up.

Don’t compare Nelson to Machida, that’s just crazy. Dana’s right, Nelson did what it took to win, but didn’t show us any of what we’ve come to expect from the greatest athletes in the world.

Roy was happy that he won the fight and to have Dana make that comment was wrong.

@nope Lets face it Kimbo would have lost to anyone in the house with the ability to take him down. Yes Nelson is a pro fighter but he didn’t have to even try to win this fight, Kimbo offered no resistance when he got taken down, nelson passed to full mount and side mount and the crucifix and kimbo didn’t even make it the least bit hard. It was as if nelson was doing a training session to show people how to improve position it was that easy for him.

If you take away Kimbo’s history…he looks just as bad, or as good as, the rest of the rookies in the house. I think he would’ve hung w/ any of the first 4 fighters. Nelson is a Pro, of course he looks much better. Also, Big Country would’ve run through any of the first 4 guys just as easy as he handled Kimbo.

Big Dave- if Kimbo just wanted a good paycheck he would have been much better off fighting in Japan where they would probably triple whatever the ufc is going to pay him. Average heavyweight fighters dont make 6 figures starting out and even Brock started out at around 150,000 which is nowhere near what Kimbo made in Elite xc.
