WEC 43 Live Results
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Benson Henderson are set to wage war this evening for the WEC lightweight interim crown in San Antonio as WEC 43 is expected to light up the Texas desert like a 4th of July in October.
The winner of the highly anticipated showdown between the two will without a doubt be moving on to a match-up with current WEC champion Jamie Varner, who has been sidelined by a series of injuries, to determine the true king of the hill at 155 pounds in the WEC once and for all.
Also on the card is the fast rising undefeated prospect Dave Jansen taking on the always dangerous Rich Crunkilton, along with a slew of other potentially action packed match-ups.

DT dominated the stand-up but got caught in a deeeep guillotine. I’m shocked he survived. Round finishes with DT punishing Vazquez with GnP.
2nd is all stand-up which DT dominates. Vicious leg kicks have Vazquez basically working with one leg. DT is up 2 rounds.
Vazques easily takes R3 with great ground control. Tap or Snap Radio crew splits the prediction… Rodie and Jon pick Vazquez, I take DT.
DT takes a split decision. Crowd is not happy.
Valencia/Wheeler next. Jon and I are picking Valencia, Rodie’s taking Wheeler.

Hard round to score. Both landed great shots, it looked like Ox jacked up Valencia’s ankle. Great action so far.

Third rounds slows down for a bit but Valencia will end up taking the UD. Rodie is claiming now that he picked Valencia but I’m not so sure…

Round started out even but Wineland pulls away and steals it.
Wineland rocks Tapia at one point but can’t finish. He’s just got too much reach and better technique, he could counter Tapia all day.
Wineland takes the UD after three solid rounds. Wineland looked great on his feet.

Great fight I had Cowboy winning, but still great fight.
Varner really gets hated on a lot.
Ben amazed me tonight, plain and simple..
Say what you will, but, IMHO, BJ PENN wouldn’t have gotten a tap out of Ben tonight..
With that said, Cowboy was robbed.. Ben clearly won rounds 2 and 3, but 4 was controlled by Don, and round 1 was his too.. As for round 5, the judges did what I thought they would, and took it as the guy on top being in control.. This is something that REALLY, REALLLLLLY needs to be changed in today’s judging.. It makes me sick to my stomach every time someone wins a decision, despite being on the defensive and dodging submissions the whole time..
Sure, takedowns get you points, but should you win a round that you got two takedowns in, when you had to turtle just to survive?
Ben’s a great fighter, he surprised the hell out of me tonight, and I now have a world of respect for him, I just don’t think he should have won..
I hate Varner. And if Ben fights anything like he did tonight against Varner, he’ll have no problem winning.. So, I guess I’m content..
