Pellegrino out, Matt Veach in against Frank Edgar at TUF 10 Finale
After a back injury recently forced Kurt Pellegrino out of his showdown against Frank Edgar during The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale, it now appears as though Matt Veach has been tabbed to fill his shoes in the lightweight match-up.
Pellegrino first reported his injury earlier today via his Twitter account, and immediately the search was on for a replacement.
It now looks like Matt Veach has agreed to take the fight on short notice according to a recent report over at MMAMania.com.
The event is set to take place on December 5 from The Pearl At The Palms Resort in Las Vegas.
Edgar is coming off of back to back wins over Hermes Franca and Sean Sherk, while Veach sports an undefeated record of 11-0, with his Octagon debut coming in the form of a first round TKO over Matt Grice in February.

Same as before. Edgar tko although a lot sooner now.

This fight sucks balls. What a step down in competiton for Edgar. How does he dominate Sherk and then get matched up with this guy? What a joke

Still a pointless fight for Edgar. If you asked me, he should be fighting someone like Florian that will actually give him a title shot. Doing fights like this allows for 2 things to happen, none of them useful. He beats Matt Veach, and everyone says, “Yah, so what?” Or by some chance he loses, in which case he plummets all the way off of the lightweight ladder after such an impressive climb. It’s the same situation Martin Kampmann was in. He was set to take a fight with title shot implications, then because of Swick’s injury he took a different fight. We all know how he’s ranked now.
Also, who’s going to be excited for this fight? It would just make for such a better fight if he was fighting a legit contender.

Him and pellegrino never should have been made in the first place. It should of been him vs Florian and Guida vs. Pellegrino.

I wouldn’t count this Veach guy out just quite yet…. remember sometimes guys with great records come out from nowhere and pull of some big wins (see – Paulo Thiago , Lyoto Machida, etc..)

Well, I won’t count him out, and that would be hands down the biggest mistake that Edgar could make, but he should win 99% of the time. Also Machida might have come out of nowhere, but he was always an amazing fighter. This guy had beaten Stephan Bonnar, BJ Penn, and Rich Franklin all before coming to the UFC mind you. Had Matt Veach beaten Josh Thomson or Shinya Aoki, I would have a completely different view on the guy.
