    What am I missing here?

What is the big draw in Kimbo Slice? He seems like a decent guy. He had a youtube following, but there must be hundreds of fighters just like Kimbo out there waiting for there chance. Is it his look or his street persona…I don’t get it. There must be hundreds of fighters out there just like Slice, waiting for there chance. He’s too old to learn any significant ground skills, so all you have is a big puncher that gases right away and will never be on a champions level. If Bas Rutten can’t teach you anything that might be a sign.

It was a nice story, but we’ve seen what we have with his loss to “late-pregnancy” Nelson. Why do people need to see this dude? Someone help me out.

theres no reason why kimbo should get the opportunity to fill in for matt if matt drops out. why not demico or wessel or maybe someone who actually made it to the2nd round.

I don’t see any problem giving the fans what they want. Obviously the casual fan enjoys watching Kimbo and are interested in what he does. TUF in the end is a marketing tool for the UFC and there are maybe 5 guys in the UFC right now who would cause the ratings to go up on TUF over what Kimbo draws when he’s actually part of the show.

I am about tired of the hype too. Yes UFC is all about money and Kimbo is money for them, but seriously he is a joke to the sport. If i was a professional and an expert of my trade like most fighters in the UFC or ones trying to get into the UFC(excluding some). I agree at first i bought into it at first, but once i saw that fight with Nelson it just showed me that this guy is hype and nothing else. To all those out there that are fans of his because they feel he can fight shouldn’t that right there have showed you that he cant at all. As long as people give him support and continue to buy into the bs that the UFC is spitting, jokers like him are going to continue to enter the sport and ruin it.

You guys are all hating on kimbo, but i can guarentee that you will watch his fight on the finale. Kimbo is nothing more than a pawn in the UFC game. He is being used by Dana White and any intelligent person should be able to see that. Kimbo draws huge numbers, he fought in the highest rated episode of The Ultimate Fighter ever, and he aslo fought in the most watched fight ever when he fought on CBS. People love to see Kimbo fight, they dont care about his skill set and lack of a ground game and cardio. They like his background, they grew up watching him pummel guys on youtube and will always watch him fight whether it be on youtube against street punks or in the UFC against REAL fighters. Dana White is a smart man and know how many new people Kimbo has exposed to the UFC. Dana also knows how many people will tune into to see Kimbo fight on the finale. Dana also knows that those new viewers will get to witness actuall fighting talent in the likes of Jon Jones, Matt Hammill, and Frankie Edgar. Dana knows when the new viewers see the level of talent the UFC has to offer, and the hype up commercials of UFC 107, he will have attracted new fans who will fill his pockets by purchasing PPV’s.

Your are 100% right and it sux. I like Kimbo as a dude but I hate that the general public for choosing to watch because of him. I can’t imagine this happening in many other sports. Hopefully now that the UFC has Houston, Baroni and Kimbo they can use the freed up money from letting Hendo and Werdum go and use it to buy Sapp and Butterbean and then they would have collected the whole set.

Personally, I think Kevin Ferguson has a ways to go as a fighter, for sure. But you know what? I think he knows that, and he still trains and he still trys to get better. Will he ever be a great fighter of championship caliber? Likely not. But the spirit of Jiu-jitsu (or any other martial art you care to name including wrestling) is all about self improvement and discipline, and preparedness for any situation. I think you could say the same thing about the holes in Kevin’s game as you could about Cheik Kongo’s game, or Houston Alexander’s game. As long as Joe Silva is careful who he puts him up against, there is no reason we can’t see entertaining fights from him and have him earn his living. Well, that and get him more of a gas tank, but I couldn’t go one round any more, so what would I know? I think he’s got a likeable personality and his underdog status doesn’t hurt either. He’s a lot better than Matt who is fishing for an excuse not to fight. A least this guy “wants to be a f*****g fighter.” I have to respect that.

Kimbo is a fighter, maybe not the best, but he does bring for about 2 or 3 minutes. He is playing the game and making money. Every one of you would be doing the same thing. Sure he knocked out a few crack heads, made it big on YouTube, but that does not pay the bills. Give the guy some respect for turning BBQ beatdowns into real cash. If it was not for Kimbo Slice we may not have had “Chocolate Rain”.

I not hateing on the guy. I like Kimbo and seeing him on the show has opened my eyes to the human being that he is. but why does he have to get a shot at filling in for Matt?? Why not Rogers? it would make for a better fight since he dosent have a bum knee at that point of the show.

Any fighter with an IQ over 10 knows that you beat Kimbo with takedowns, wrestling and/or bjj. I don’t see how his fight could last very long or be that interesting.

thunder okami: because its the ufcufc = about moneykimbo slice = income

Just like Thunder Okami said…its all about the money..we all know Kimbo isnt gonna be a top notch MMA fighter..EVER…Dana is all about the money. So is the UFC. Before it used to be about the best fighting the best… the next person in line for a shot at a belt was the #2 in that division…and so forth, now its about money and how many viewers they can get. Remember when Dana talked SOOO much crap about Kimbo? It kinda backfired in his face when he realized how much money this “kimbo” guy brings in. SO…now that he knows he’s worth money and he’s gonna milk it for all its worth.

UFC booted Houston Alexander for his losses, and the fact that as soon as you put him on his back, he’s done for….well guess what…KIMBO IS THE SAME!! BUT since Big Country ruined dana’s cash flow, Dana has to find a way to put money into his pocket again, so he brings kimbo back against a guy he knows wont take it to the ground.

Just irritates me how Dana and the UFC talk so much shit about all the other orgs and their fighters, then says how great they are when they come into the UFC. I know its promoting your business to be the best , but Ive kinda lost interest in the UFC after it wasnt about the best vs the best…its about the best fighter that will bring in money and bring Ratings.

Im glad we will get to see TRUE talent and money worthy shows with Aoki, Hansen, Alvarez, Big Foot and a few others from DREAM in SF. Even tho most of the MMA noobs think UFC is TOP NOTCH BEST OF THE BEST. Wish people knew more about DREAM and K-1 and Japan fighters, and not just relate MMA with UFC.
