Big Surprise: Rampage announces return to the UFC
In what could be described as shocking news to very few, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson appears to be ready to come out “retirement” to bless the UFC and his legions of fans with his presence in the Octagon… for a limited time only.
Many of you will remember the announcement of Jackson’s retirement just a little over two months ago when the former champion threw a verbal temper tantrum in the direction of the UFC due to their being disappointed with his decision to turn his back on a highly anticipated showdown with Rashad Evans following the recent completion of The Ultimate Fighter 10 due to the filming of the A-Team remake. You know, the blog where Quinton goes on and on about how much he had done for the UFC, and how ungrateful the promotion had been to him.
Well the most recent revelation in this ongoing soap opera has Rampage promising to make his long awaited return to the sport according to a recent blog on his official website, for a little while at least.
I wanted to let my fans know that I’m going to come back to the UFC [to] finish my contract – not because the haters are talking [expletive] about me being scared of Rashad … or anybody else. I’m coming back for my fans and to shut Rashad’s mouth up and shut Dana’s mouth up. Then after that I’m going back to doing movies, and I might do a boxing match once a year just to stay in shape.
No news is currently available as to a possible return date for Jackson but stay tuned to 5 Oz. as we promise to keep you up to date on any news of the return of the Rampage.

This is good news, as the eventual fight between Rampage and Rashad will be terrific, as long as Rashad wins his fight against Silva, which I think he does in devestating fashion.
Well-Done.

Everyone knew this would happen. I’m wondering if Rampage discovered that he’s not that good of an actor (or was being told he wasn’t) or he’s realized that making movies won’t make him rich as quickly as he thought. Or maybe he watched the last episode of TUF and realized Rashad made him look like a bitch.
Well-Done.

Well…. they need a good opponent for Lil Nog.
That would be my vote. Both Evans and Thiago Silva are still contenders but i would like to see Machida vs. Shogun, Rampage vs. Lil Nog with the winner fighting each other.
Those 4 are hands above the rest.
Well-Done.

I get the feeling he will end up with Strike force because they have shown incredible flexablity in allowing thier top guys to go and do other thing( a little to much in some cases). Where the UFC has shown little in the way of letting guys do there own thing outside the octagon.
Well-Done.

I don’t. Rampage seems like he’s pretty close to being done fighting in general. His attitude has always been that he hates training and only does it because he’s good at it.
Being affiliated with the UFC lets him keep his name out there, if anything i could see him being more of fighter like Liddell is now, and by that i mean, less fighting, but more public engagements.
Not all fighters want to fight forever… even if we want them to.
Well-Done.

The guy is mentally unstable. He has no idea what he wants to do.

I say he fights and beats Rashad and he loves it so much that he signs another contract.

Exactly. What Rampage *says* he’s going to do is probably the least reliable indicator of what he’s actually *going* to do.
Go make your movie, and get back to us when you’re done. Dana has demonstrated that there’s always a place for a big moneymaker at the UFC table, and all of this nonsense (as well as TUF and maybe even the movie itself if it’s successful) will help make Rampage a pretty marketable commodity.
Well-Done.

Well, it was only a matter of time..
I didn’t think he would return so quickly though..
Now, this opens up plenty more awesome matchups at LHW..

Thank god.
Frankly, I was getting tired of seeing him and Rashad go back and forth on TUF, knowing I would never see them fight. That part of the show was getting really stale for me. It was like watching softcore porn…”you’re never gonna see what you want to see.”
I’m glad he’s back…if only to finish his contract and go toe-to-toe Rashad.
Well-Done.

you know what all this blame on the man for Dana telling him its ok to do the moive to his face and then go on the radio and throw him under the bus when he is not around….
DEATH TO RAMPAGE for trusting Dana
Silva is going to exspose evans for the clown he is and Rampage will get to skull fuck him for all the shit he talked but backed off when Rampage got in his face, and for going after Tiki for no reason but his own entertainment and trying to hard to be someone he is not when the camera is off.
LET THE THUMBS DOWN BEGIN

The latest goofy move by a truly goofy (albeit likeable, sorta) guy. After all the hijinks on TUF this season, I sure hope his first fight is with Rashad. Their dilike for each other didn’t seem completely contrived.

RAMPAGE is one of the best Characters in MMA. Love him or hate him… He makes people want to watch.
Although I grew to like Rashad a little more after this season of TUF…. I still hope he gets KTFO

Going into this season I hated Rashad and liked Rampage. After watching, I actually like Rashad, and really don’t like Rampage. I’d love to see them fight and get one of them to actually back up all the shit he’s been talking, and the other having to shut up.

Ofcourse we knew he would be back, doesn’t anyone know once u sign in the ufc its like u sign ur soul away, until u complete da contract. That’s exaclty what he’s doing just like randy & tito had to do b4 they can really do anything else. I bet anything, when he KO’s Rashad, Dana will grant him a title shot and if he wins it will secure him in the ufc even longer b/c he’s the champ. You’ll see.

Rashad is finally going to get his chance to fist rape Page. Good deal. I used to like Rampage….then I watched that show. He deserves a beatdown just for being such a shitty coach.

Ya, I like Rampage being back. It’s been said and I always knew as well that Rampage would be back. I do think Rampage knows what he wants because he has said and showed it. He doesn’t like to fight or train but it puts food on the table for his kids
I would love for Rashad to get Knocked out by Rampage. I havne’t like the fight class of Rashad since he steped into the ring after Rampage fought that night. I do like Rashad as a coach but really want to see him get knocked out by Rampage.

I agree completely. I got so sick of seeing them get in each others faces every single episode and say the dumbest sh*t over and over again when everyone knew they weren’t going to fight right there anyways. Rashad was by far the better coach this season, but neither of them impressed me as people.

I’m glad he came to his senses and will continue to fight. That way, Rashad can beat him sense-less. I really think Rashad wins this one. He is way smarter, has KO power, and is far more versatile. I could be wrong (I was wrong about ALL the TUF semi-final fights!! I still can’t believe it). Rampage does always have the punchers chance.
I’m glad this TUF season is finally over. I’m very tired of Rampage and Rashad arguing like two girls in Junior High once or twice every episode. I’m tired of the producers thinking they need to manufacture drama to make the show interesting.

Agreed Xtreme, although I thought it might possibly be in japan for Dream or another company. But I knew he would be back.
I must say that I love Rampage fights and I hope he comes back strong but I am sick of the drama that sometimes surrounds him. Just get in there and fight and give us the Rampage interviews before and after and I will be happy.
Anyway glad to see him back and I hope he fights Forrest and Rashad soon.

What pissed me off the most about the drama was the fact that Rampage had already “retired” while it was all happening. What is the point of hyping a fight that isn’t currently in the works?

I completely agree but I can see where Rampage was coming from ..aside from being a crappy coach he did have a right to taunt Rashad. After Rashad came into the ring after Rampage fought and started swearing and getting in Rampages face with zero class just shows me Rashad had to build himself up. All the while Rampage was telling Rashad that he didn’t need to use that kind of language and that he was on tv making a fool of himself. Rampage still should have coached while on the show.
I think Rashad is scared of Rampage and knows that he needs this fight and needs to win to be a real top fighter in MMA. The only name he has beat is Forrest. Forest with that lazy ass leg kick he throws that got caught the first time by Rashads teammate Jardine. Forrest was owning Rashad till that very same lazy ass leg kick.
Rampage didn’t back down at all on the show when Rashad was in his face..you know, the last episode bitch scene. Rashad backed off like a little scared puppy dog barking at the big dog. LMAO.
Man, I can wait for that fight. Rashad is gonna get knocked the F out.

The Pink Room was classic though.
I just wanna see them fight.
And I just wanna see Kimbo as B.A.Baracus in “The A-Team II – Straight to DVD”.
I know Kimbo can ack circles around Quinton.

Are u a complete idiot? The show was already over before a single episode even aired on tv. Rampage retired while the show was still going but long since after everyone was outta the house!!!

No, I’m not an idiot, but thank you for asking.
The reason it pissed me off is that even though Rampage retired while the show was airing, they did nothing to downplay his fight with Rashad. It’s called editing. They do it for every show, hell, they even do it for some “live” events via 5 second delay. They could have easily taken some of the 20 minutes or so that those two went at each other and focused on the fighters, the training, in-house drama, anything besides something that had been taken off the table. After all, as Rampage put it so many times during the show “It’s called the Ultimate Fighter, not the Ultimate Coach.”
Before you go running off at the mouth, make sure you’re not about to make yourself look like a complete ass.

Lol, I won’t call you an ass.
I was saying that even though the show was over, they have hundreds of hours of film that they could have easily have worked with to edit out the vast majority of those unnecessary scenes to focus on something more important.
Sorry for getting ruffled, it just irritates me when the first thing out of someone’s mouth is an insult, especially when dealing with someone I don’t know from Adam.
