Melvin Manhoef confirmed for “Dynamite!! 2009″, wants Robbie Lawler in Strikeforce
FiveOuncesofPain.com has recently learned that newly signed Strikeforce wrecking ball Melvin Manhoef will be competing at the year end DREAM vs. Sengoku event on New Years Eve entitled “Dynamite!! 2009“.
There were scores of mixed martial arts fans that began to salivate at the mouth at the prospect of a showdown against fellow knockout artist Robbie Lawler once Manhoef’s arrival to Strikeforce was formally announced over the last week. However, when Manhoef’s management was contacted by FiveOuncesofPain.com it was learned that “No Mercy” will most likely not be competing at the December 19 “Strikeforce: Evolution” card as many had hoped, due to Melvin’s commitment to the New Years Eve event in Japan.
While Manhoef vs. Lawler may not be taking place this year, there is a good possibility of the two heavy handed sluggers duking it out sometime in early 2010 as Manhoef’s people stated that he is definitely interested in facing off with the “Ruthless” one during his stint with Strikeforce.
Other bouts expected for “Dynamite!! 2009″ will be the finals of the DREAM Super Hulk Grand Prix where Ikuhisa Minowa will be facing Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, along with the highly anticipated MMA debut of decorated Judoka Satoshi Ishii as he faces off with fellow Judo Olympian Hidehiko Yoshida.

Awww… I was really hoping he’d be the fill in for Benji Radach…

…and that fight WILL happen sometime next year in Strikeforce. It’s just too awesome not too!
But it’s good news to hear that Melvin will be at Dynamite!! 2009. That is really sweet considering that HDNet just formally announced last weekend that they will be airing that show live.
I’m glad they got that show this year…unlike last year where they were unable to and all us fans had to watch Dynamite!! online.
But anytime I get to see a Melvin Manhoef fight…wether it be in K-1, DREAM or Strikeforce its’ a bonus for me. I absolutely love watching that guy!
