Knee Injury Forces Trevor Prangley to Withdraw from “Strikeforce: Evolution”

robbie lawlerIt appears as though the UFC is not the only MMA promotion needing to find a last minute replacement for an upcoming event, as FiveOuncesofPain.com was able to confirm with Strikeforce representative Mike Afromowitz that Trevor Prangley has withdrawn from this weekend’s “Strikeforce: Evolution” show due to an undisclosed knee injury sustained in training.

The 22-5 South African is currently riding a five-fight winning streak with notable victories in his career over Falaniko Vitale, Travis Lutter, Matt Horwich, and Chael Sonnen. Prangley’s absence leaves hard-hitting fan favorite Robbie Lawler without an opponent for Saturday night, though Afromowitz assured fans Strikeforce is “currently searching for a replacement”.

While purely speculation at this point, another possibility could be pushing Lawler’s next appearance back to January 30th, 2010 when the company ventures to Miami with women’s champion Cris “Cyborg” Santos the recently signed Bobby Lashley rumored to be in action.

    Hendo…

Lawler lost to Mayhem Miller 3years ago… why not a rematch? It’s not like Mayhem got hit that much during his loss to shields that he couldnt be ready to go.

LOL @ Hendo. I don’t think that would work out very well for Lawlor. Hope they find someone quick though!! Time is running out.

  4. Brendhan Conlan says:

A fight like Lawler/Miller deserves more build. I think they need to find him a journeyman and/or tomato can if they’re dead set on him fighting this weekend. Otherwise, waiting until January is the way to go. Might as well round out that card instead of use your all of your top middleweights at the same event.

overeem seems like hes ready to fight anywhere anytime! and he doesnt even care how small his opponents are!
    oh wait… its in america.

I guess the UFC isn’t the only injury-prone organization. Well, they could always get Scott Smith again…oh, wait…isn’t he fighting some Xanzhou guy? ;)

Seriously, that sucks for Lawler if they can’t find someone to step up.
