Strikeforce heads back to the organization’s home turf on Feb. 26 in San Jose, Calif. for the fifth installment of the “Challenger Series.” This Strikeforce event series typically showcases young prospects to the public eye.
The event will be held at the San Jose Civic Auditorium, a small venue seating about 3,000 spectators. Strikeforce will be visiting the venue for the fourth time since their inception as an MMA promotion.
While Strikeforce has yet to officially announce specific event details, MMAJunkie.com has confirmed the location of the event with sources close to the promotion.
“Strikeforce Challengers VI: Prangley vs. Amoussou” features a main event between Strikeforce veteran Trevor Prangley (22-5 MMA, 3-1 Strikeforce) and upcoming European prospect Karl Amoussou (11-2 MMA, 0-0 Strikeforce).
Prangley, a former UFC and Bodog Fight vet, has recently seen success under the Shark Fights banner with a submission over Marcus Sursa almost two months ago. In fact, the South Africa native has been chalked in the win column for his past five fights.
“Psycho” Amoussou is seen as one of the top European prospects by MMA pundits. Currently riding a three fight win streak, the French M-1 Global vet will attempt to establish himself within an increasingly competitive organization.
A bantamweight female bout between Takayo Hashi (12-1 MMA, 0-0 Strikeforce) and Sarah Kaufman (10-0 MMA, 2-0 Strikeforce) will serve as the card’s co-headliner. The plot thickens for this bout as both competitors are riding lengthy win streaks.
Also featured on the card will be a tussle between “Ultimate Fighter 7” castoff Paul Bradley (12-1 MMA, 1-0 Strikeforce) and well known prospect Luke Rockhold (6-1 MMA, 5-0 Strikeforce).
