Bibiano Fernandes vs. Joachim Hansen confirmed for Dream 13

FiveOuncesofPain.com was the first to report the news that former Dream 154 pound champion Joachim Hansen would be dropping from lightweight to featherweight to challenge Bibiano Fernandes for the Dream 139 pound title, and Dream officials have since confirmed 5 Oz.‘ report.

The duo will face off on March 22 from the Yokohama Arena in Japan.

Fernandes made a name for himself a premier featherweight in 2009 as the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt captured the DREAM 139 pound title with four consecutive wins over the likes of Takafumi Otsuka, Masakazu Imanari, Joe Warren and Hiroyuki Takaya during the promotion’s featherweight grand prix.

Hansen most recently succumbed to a Shinya Aoki armbar to relinquish the DREAM 154 pound crown after knocking the “Tobikan Judan” senseless in a previous bout where he originally captured the title. Hansen holds notable victories over the likes of Takanari Gomi, Gesias “JZ” Calvancanti and Caol Uno.

    Nice match-up!

I can’t really predict a winner…but I will be going for Hansen. I didn’t think Bibiano deserved the belt (his decision vitory over Takay was controversial at best) and I didn’t like it when he flipped Joe Warren off and then ran away.

While on the other hand…Joachim Hansen is all about class and respect.

This could be an epic fight though. And I can’t wait to see the rest of the card!
