they cant change the date on a venue that is being built up in a first time location owned buy the new buisness partners that have a shit load of cash. they cant not for this one

if you didnt realize this already but nothings final till a contract is signed… DW can say anybody is getting a title shot next but until a contract is signed its an empty promise and in the past fighters have been promised one thing and given another…. all i gotta say is hendo, and thats just one example.

Ilike Palhares a lot in this situation. While his Jiu-jitsu isn’t on Maia’s level his takedowns are far superior. As a card carrying member of the Anderson Silva fan club this matchup scares me the most. This guy is a credible threat if he gets the nod

I mean how can they be worthy?. They arn’t in the UFC! and as we all know when they enter the UFC a magic wand is waved over them to make them better than those…outsiders!.

Sorry but Rece Rock are you saying that now Sonnen has earned a title shot he should put himself at a disadvantage?. He earned it so he is perfectly entitled to want a good camp and enough training time for what could be the biggest fight of his life. Why isn’t he?. I hope he takes the fight but what you are saying makes no sense. He has a title shot so why would him rushing it be taking advantage? He is not taking advantage of anything if he takes this fight. It puts him at a disadvantage considering he has a shot anyway.
The fight should be delayed or at 205. Really it should be delayed to be fair to anyone but Silva, no including Silva.

I think the 205s offer the most intriguing match. Sonnen’s gotta be a no – go with his hacked up face. I really liked the above post from Turkish – don’t know why it’s getting thumbs down? – this is all hypothetical wishlist fantasy league ideas. It would be interesting to see Thiago Silva or Luis Cane from 205. I don’t think those guys would take it on the short notice. They’re both right on the cusp for getting back on the inside track for title with some careful orchestration. Would they throw Jon Jones at Anderson?

The difficulty in getting the young up and comer fighters to step in is that Anderson makes guys look silly. But anybody who fights Anderson and loses is in the company of some really good fighters.

I just really want to see Anderson fight again. He’s amazing.

I think Rousimar would stand a pretty good chance..
Other than that I don’t see who could fight Silva..
Everyone else is tied up, but, I guess you could easily break up a fight that is set months in advance for a title fight..

- With the way Nate Quarry looked against Creduer, he would probably get massacred by Silva.. With that said, he has had a previous title fight and a long road back to recovery, so the story could make him a possible choice..

- Simpson got worked by Lawlor in his last bout and I don’t think it would be any different if he fought Silva.. Except, he would need to be woken up at the end..

- Akiyama makes sense, seeing as how he technically hasn’t lost in 5 years, but with only one win in the octagon, against Alan Belcher no less, it’s hard to make the case..

- Belcher is a nice candidate too, he always bring the fight and has that huge “upset” factor about him, but his name isn’t big enough, and he lacks the top competition wins (at least the type that get you a fight with Anderson Silva)

- Okami just suffered a loss, but before that he was the top dog in this division for how long? His title shot is way over due and the fact that there’s a nice story between him and Spider makes him a likely candidate..

- Maia would’ve been a perfect candidate before his loss to Marquardt, but now he is coming off of a loss and probably his least impressive victory in the octagon, so I’m not so sure now..

I’m not so sure Sonnen would fight with such a short camp. If he fights Silva on six weeks notice, it maybe the only title shot he ever gets.

If Belfort is gone because of the injury for awhile, why not wait and fight the winner of Silva’s next bout and then get a proper camp in? It’s probably going to be Silva anyway…

I have an idea, they should get Chuck Lidell to fight him. He of all people stands a punchers chance. But IMHO in his prime, he was too aggressive for silva and I think he would’ve gotten in that one punch that changes the whole fight. But now Chuck is old so that’s not going to happen, but it will still make for an entertaining fight.

TURKISH: It won’t be at middleweight, and it will likely be a fighter at 205 coming off of a loss like Luis Cane or Thiago Silva.Too many quality fighters are tied up because these cards are announced so many months in advance. Silva’s had his share of mediocre match ups at 185…Leites, Cote. It would be nothing more than a tune up fight to have him fight Alan Belcher or some other random 185lb. fighter.

DW already stated that Silva will still fight at 185. So unless you have some inside info, I'll believe him.
