Point is they are not endangered at all. In modern MMA if you can strike and wrestle you decide where the fight goes. ie. if they grapple you can stand if they strike you take it to the ground and control them. It is the best base to have for that reason.
Carwin, Lesnar, Lindland, Lawler, Hughes, Maynard, Gomi, Randleman, Coleman, Lesnar, Lashley, Koscheck, Edgar, Hendo, Couture, Mo, Hamill, Rashad, Rampage, Sherk, Matyushenko, Sonnen etc etc. All have a wrestling base and have learned other skills on top of that base. To say they are endangered or on the way out is wrong.

LiverPunch, I'll give you Hendo, Hamill, and Rashad, but I can't give you the rest.

Maynard is mostly a wrestler, but he's got a pretty solid boxing base as well.
Edgar is way more tallented than Mo, in my opinion, but he lacks the power at LW to finish fights.

Carwin and Lesnar are tough to compare to Mo. All three are NCAA wrestling champs, with Mo actually being the most decorated out of the bunch. But so far we haven't seen either Lesnar or Carwin stay in someones guard and not try to finish the fight. Mo did next to nothing in the fight with Mousasi and actually got hammered from the bottom. Lesnar has been in guard longer than Carwin has, and has actually gone to decision, but the entire time he was there he was trying to land hammer fists and elbows, and he definitely got the better of the striking on the ground.

I think Mo could develop into an absolute beast with a little more time. He's got the best wrestling pedigree of anyone in the LHW division, possibly even in MMA today. If he can get some solid GnP going or even work an aggressive sub game he could be a nightmare for anyone he faces.

what do you mean "on the way out". because with the names mentioned i thought you meant "still fighting (and winning) against top competition"

Mo is just as multi skilled as Carwin, Lesnar, Rashad, Hamill, Maynard, Edgar, Hendo etc etc.
They are not endangered at all.

I wasn't impressed with King MOs victory. One dimensional fighters are still around but their an endangered species. Now they will have a legit champion something rare for Strikeforce

This guy has a semi-respectable looking record, but in reality this matchup shows us more about SF's LHW division than anything else. Rafael is getting a title shot with only one win in SF and that wasn't exactly over a guy I would consider "championship contender" quality. The problem is that I can only see two other fighters in SF getting a title shot right now: Mousasi, who just lost in a snoozefest decision; and Babalu, who keeps refusing to fight Mo since they're evidently friends.

Like a lot of Blackhouse fighters, Rafael is mostly known for his KO's, but you also know that if he's rolling with A. Silva and the Nog brothers he's got to have legitimate BJJ. When you consider that plus the fact that Mo hasn't really fought anyone that dangerous off of their back (I looked at Mousasi's submissions and the only real ground fighter he's submitted was Dennis Kang), I can see how Mo could lose this. And not to sound like a tool, but I really kind of hope he does lose.

Mo's performance against Mousasi may have been dominant from the wrestling aspect, but it was terribly boring and unimpressive from every other aspect. I don't believe you should win a fight for simply taking a guy down and laying on him for 25 minutes. You've got to try to improve position and attempt to end the fight. I barely remember Mo trying to posture up or really even attempting to throw very many shots from inside Mousasi's guard at all. Meanwhile, Mousasi was throwing hammerfists, jabs, and elbows from his back the entire time as well as at least one solid submission attempt. Gegard was definitely winning on the feet as well. So I don't really understand how Mo got a unanimous decision when he clearly lost the standup game and, other than takedowns, was getting beat on the ground as well. After all, this is Mixed martial arts, not simply wrestling.
