Spencer Fisher vs. Kurt Warburton booked for UFC 120

Kurt Warburton (6-1) will have his hands full during his first trip to the UFC as his first opponent will be none other than Spencer Fisher (23-6) at UFC 120.

The bout will mark Fisher’s fourteenth appearance in the UFC, making him one of the most experienced veterans the promotion has to offer.

News of the bout was first reported by MMAJunkie.com, who further reported that Fisher has recently inked a new four-fight deal with the UFC.

Fisher will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats at the hands of Joe Stevenson and Dennis Siver, while Warburton is hoping to rack up a third straight victory in his UFC debut folowing an armbar defeat suffered in May of 2008.

UFC 120 is expected to take place on October 16 from the O2 Arena in London, England, not far from Warburton’s stomping grounds in Liverpool.

I don’t honestly know anything about Warburton, but this seems like they’re setting Fisher for an easy win to keep him in the UFC. They’re giving a guy with 7 total fights an introduction against a guy with double that many fights in the UFC alone?
I guess if Fisher loses they’ll either find him a real can or let him go.

I am hard pressed to recall a fight with Fisher that was boring. Win or lose, he has a long way to go before being cut from the UFC. Hell, they kept Jardine around and he wasn’t anywhere near as exciting a fighter as Fisher.

Good Luck Mr. Warburton. If you wanted a real test you got one.

Very tough fight for a first experiance in the octogan, but if he beats Fisher then he’ll have something to hang his hat on.

Should be an interesting fight. Wolfslair alumni Warburton looks to be mainly a striker. He has a good record but has not had anywhere near the number of fights or caliber of opponents as Fisher. This might be a good chance for Fisher to redeem his last two losses.
