Scott Jorgensen could be next in line for 135 lb title with WEC 50 victory
WEC 50 takes place August 18, and will mark the first title defense forWEC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz. The champion is set to square off against number 1 contender Joseph Benavidez in the 5 round contest.
In a move that should be emulated by most major organizations, the fight for the number 1 contendership is also on the line as Scott Jorgensen will fight Brad Pickett for the right to fight for the gold next.
The news comes from MMAWeekly radio who recently had the chance to speak with Mike Roberts of MMA Inc who represent Jorgensen , and WEC General Manager Reed Harris who was hesitant to guarantee anything but indicated towards a Jorgensen title fight should the fighter be victorious.

Agreed. I love it when a champ is decided and the next challenger is lined up on the same night. I know it’s not always possible, but it’s one of those things that would exist in my Utopian MMA world along with 100% clean drug tests, perfect judging, and no early/late referee stoppages.

I agree hindsight, what more does he have to do to get a title shot? He beats Mizugaki and then gets put on the freakin pre-lims… What kind of shit is that!!?? I think Jorgensen is a beast and like you said he could beat anyone in the weight class. I’m thinking we’ll see Benavidez vs Jorgensen later this year.

yeah i couldnt believe they stuck him on the prelims, its not like he’s a dull fighter either, he is exactly the sort of fighter a promotion should be promoting as one of the best up and comers around
