Exclusive: UFC newcomer David Mitchell to debut at UFN 22

Coming off the heels of yesterday’s report that welterweight prospect Anthony “T.J.” Waldburger has signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championships, has been informed by sources that the UFC has also added David Mitchell to its welterweight division.

A native of Windsor, California, Mitchell will make his UFC debut against Waldburger at UFC Fight Night 22 on September 15 in Austin, Texas.

Mitchell is a highly touted prospect who has accumulated an unblemished 11-0 record while competing for such California-based promotions as the Palace Fighting Championships and Gladiator Challenge.

The Nor-Cal Fighting Alliance product improved his national profile this past October after recording a split decision victory over Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver during the Palace’s inaugural event. At the time, the win was considered an upset, although several industry insiders had anticipated the potential outcome.

Looks like a pretty good signing to me.

Haven’t looked too hard at his record, but the guy has 9 submissions with at least 7 of those in the 1st round. I also like that he used 5 different submission holds/chokes to get those 9 wins. That’s pretty good diversity on the ground.

Curious about his standup though since he has no (T)KO wins or losses on his record. He did go the distance with War Machine, but considering how inconsistent that guy is, that doesn’t tell me much.

His real name is Daudi and believe me he is ready to make a statement in the UFC!!! He trains under Dave Terrell who eveyone knows is like a motzart when it comes to BJJ. Terrell has a whole team of bad ass fighters up at Nor Cal Fighting Alliance just waiting to break into the bigger shows. I’ve known Daudi his since we were kids and I tell you this, he might have been raised in a small country town but the man is ready and focused!!! I’ll be there in Austin to watch Daudi get his first UFC win baby you better believe it, NCFA is coming to Texas!!!
