Nick Diaz No Shows For Conference Call With KJ Noons

“That’s just not how Nick’s put together…”

- Cesar Gracie on Nick Diaz’ no show for the Strikeforce conference call ahead of the October 9 fight rematch with KJ Noons.

Highlights:

KJ Noons offered Nick Diaz nothing but respect for his ability as a fighter, but had little good to say about Diaz outside the cage. Noons went to the football coaching metaphor to explain how he plans to handle the rematch:

“I’m coming right at you win or lose. Nick Diaz is all over the place, to keep the football analogy going, he’s out there running all these crazy plays. We’ll see who’s strategy works best come October 9.”

Cesar Gracie, standing in on the conference call for Diaz, said his fighter’s work with WBA World Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward on his boxing will give the fiery Diaz an edge this time around.

I understand the purpose of conference calls… it’s a means of MARKETING your fight to INCREASE potential REVENUE and VIEWERSHIP… Since SF does a piss poor job of advertising and promoting their cards an easy way to get the word out to the public about your fight and the event is interviews/ conference calls… Shit if the biggest draws and most recognized fighters in MMA such as GSP & Lesner are doing conference calls and interviews before fights then Nick Diaz can help himself and the promotion by taking part in a ten minute call. It’s not politics it’s business and part of building up his own brand as a fighter and the promotion he fights for.

“That’s just not how Nick’s put together”…he’d rather be a selfish, miserable & ungrateful prick.

I hope KJ Noons fucking busts this jerks face wide open… again.

From the marketing aspect, I get the conference calls. But not all fighters are built for interviews and media attention. Sure you’ve got guys like Brock, GSP, Rampage, Mir, and Chael who are all about the publicity, but then you have the more reserved guys like A. Silva, Machida, and evidently Nick Diaz who will give interviews, but you can tell it’s just not their thing.

Even with that in mind, if you’re one of the guys that doesn’t want to deal with all the publicity, you should either turn down the call from the start or tell them that you’d rather have your camp/press agent/trainer fill in for you and at the very least call in instead to let them know last minute instead of no-showing.

Agree or Disagree: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0
