Strikeforce signs fifty-fight veteran Luis Santos

Five Ounces of Pain has learned from sources close to the situation that 45-6 welterweight Luis “Sapo” Santos has signed a deal with Strikeforce and will make his promotional debut at their event scheduled for December 4th in St. Louis.

His opponent at the show has yet to be announced.

Santos, who trains out of St. Louis, may be relatively unknown to the masses but has been on the radar of hardcore fans for awhile due to his impressive record. “Sapo” started his career with eighteen consecutive wins and has emerged a success in eight of his last nine bouts. Thirty-four of his career victories have been the result of a knockout/submission (24/10), while he himself has only been finished three times in the ten-plus years he’s been competing.

In addition to Santos seeing action in St. Louis, the card will also feature a headlining bout between Dan Henderson and Renato “Babalu” Sobral, a guaranteed slugfest between Scott Smith and Paul Daley, and the return of Herschel Walker to a Strikeforce cage.
