What Will It Take to Make UFC 120: Bisping vs Akiyama Interesting?

Having a hard time getting your mojo on over “UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama?”

Aired on Spike TV free via same-day tape-delay, the fight features British mainstays Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy taking on (respectively) Yoshihiro Akiyama and Carlos Condit.

If the pure spectacle of the fights from O2 Arena in London won’t do it for you, then maybe a gaming interest will generate some juice.

Bisping, who became a bit of a sensation in the British Isles by charging out to 14-0 to start his MMA career, has now gone 2-2 over his last four fights. His last outing, a unanimous decision victory over Dan Miller at UFC 114, moved his record to a gaudy 19-3 but left fans wondering if he has the right stuff to compete in the UFC.

For his part in the fracas, Akiyama comes off a loss to journeyman Chris Leben via submission in his last outing at UFC 116. Since he ventured across the Pacific back in 2009 to great fanfare, Sexyama is a not-so-awesome 1-1 inside the Octagon, and a loss to Bisping would leave him in the wilds with the UFC, judo or no judo.

The latest lines for the fight look something like this:

John Hathaway -600
Mike Pyle +400

Dan Hardy -165
Carlos Condit +135

Michael Bisping -225
Yoshihiro Akiyama +185

I’ll tell ya! All the fights get finished by KO or submission!

It all rests on the shoulders of Akiyama to make this fight exciting

i’m stoked for this card, much like 108, i thought it just looks like really great match ups and a whole schwack of fighters that are on the fence.

So many fighters have a lot to lose if they don’t bring it Saturday night. Which should mean a lot of fighters are going to go balls to the wall.

While 121 is the easy favourite, 120 is my second favourite up until 126/127(based on potential fights)

    A new line up.
I don’t buy this 108 crap. You can have great fights between great fighters too. So don’t try and tell me I should be happy with a shitty card because sometimes those fights turn out good.

In Australia they expect you to pay for this card. Nice for those that get Spike but we don’t. It costs about 3 and 1/2 Kangaroo pelts and a full Crocodile skin. In your American money that is about $35. Seriously we have to pay to see it.

Sorry to hear that MMA-LOGIC, that sucks. You are correct in saying that this card is not worth the $$. Yes, a lot of times these kinds of cards turn into dynamite nights, but who’s to say or know???

In fairness MMA Logic… i’ll be bowling on saturday night, so i’m going to miss it anyways. :)

    But no… i wouldn’t pay for it, if that was the case, but i didn’t pay for 109, 112, 114, 118, 119… won’t pay for 123, 124…

i’m cheap bastard and only pay for cards i like.

(p.s…. i didn’t tell anybody they should be happy with a card they don’t like, just said that i’m happy with it.)

Hey…MMA-LOGIC-cry me a river-you give us macho MMA fans a bad name-remember blood is only red sweat-words to live by-Anyways- back to the subject at hand-I think the card will be exciting enough-I mean there’s only one Greg Jackson trained fighter on the card that I know of-Thank the Lord-Is it just me or does that little nerd trainer give you the creeps also?
