Gabriel Gonzaga: “I’m gonna try to fight again in ADCC and BJJ…MMA, I don’t know.”

A little more than three years ago, 31-year old Gabriel Gonzaga stood across the Octagon from Randy Couture with the UFC’s heavyweight championship up for grabs and was riding the high of having delivered one of the most-memorable head-kicks in the sport’s history against Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

As of this past week, it appears he may never step foot inside the ring again.

The 250-pounder’s decision to consider hanging up his gloves for good appears to have come as a result of having suffered losses in three of his last four fights, the most recent of which came against Brendan Schaub at UFC 121 and resulted in his release from the world’s foremost MMA promotion.

Gonzaga recently recorded a brief video blog where he discussed the situation, saying he planned to focus on grappling tournaments like ADCC with his “main goal” being to “not fight MMA again.” However, the 11-6 Brazilian did mention he would be willing to get back into the cage if the right financial compensation was in place but that it would also take more than “cheap money” to influence his change of heart.
