UFC 122 headliners Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami measured in for their contendership-crowning main event and came in on target, meaning tomorrow night’s main event will go on as originally planned. Marquardt tipped the scale at 186 pounds with Okami coming in a notch less at 185.
The two middleweights will compete for not only a win in Germany on Saturday night but also an opportunity to face the winner of Anderson Silva’s upcoming title-defense against Vitor Belfort. Okami has notched back-to-back wins against Mark Munoz and Lucio Linhares in his previous two bouts, while “Nate the Great” is coming off a victory over Rousimar Palhares this past September and has won four of his last five fights.
In other results, Ultimate Fighter Season 7 winner Amir Sadollah checked in at 170 pounds for his main-card bout against 8-3 German welterweight Peter Sobotta. Sobotta respectively weighed in at 169 pounds respectively.
Sobotta’s countryman, kickboxer Dennis Siver, stepped on the scale at 155 pounds for his match-up with TUF 9 finalist Andre Winner (also 155 lbs). Winner will be looking to bounce back from a decision-based defeat he suffered to Nik Lentz at UFC 118, while Siver has the chance to run his record in the Octagon up to 5-1 by beating the Brit on Saturday night.
