Last night was a historic occasion for former WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber on a few levels, as “The California Kid” not only made his 135-pound debut in dominating fashion against an apt opponent, but did so at the organization’s final offering in Las Vegas and even pocketed an additional $10,000 due to his Rear-Naked Choke of Takeya Mizugaki being named the show’s “Submission of the Night”.
Also earning an extra ten-thousand dollars at WEC 52, Erik Koch scored “Knockout of the Night” due to his 96-second TKO of Francisco Rivera. The impressive victory improved Koch’s record to 11-1 and was his second win in a row since losing via decision to Chad Mendes this past March.
“Fight of the Night” rightfully went to Cub Swanson and Mackens Semerzier for their three-round, toe-to-toe throwdown which eventually saw Swanson emerge the winner by way of split-decision. As was the case in the other event-bonuses, both featherweights earned $10,000 for their efforts.
