Fans can now add Gegard Mousasi, Ikuhisa Minowa, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Jason High, and Hideo Tokoro to the already-stacked list of names officially attached to “Dynamite: The Power of Courage”, scheduled for December 31 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
According to the Japanese group overseeing both DREAM and K-1, Mousasi will abandon his high-level grappling ability for an evening and face 24-year kickboxing champion Kyotaro Fujimoto. The 24-year old heavyweight holds an 18-4 record in K-1, though he recently lost to 6’11” Semmy Schilt in the quarter-finals of the company’s recent World Grand Prix. Comparably, Mousasi is 2-0 under K-1 rules but hasn’t fought as a kickboxer since Dynamite 2008 where he won by TKO a few minutes into the first round.
Meanwhile, Sakurai will look to break a three-fight losing streak when he faces High, who respectively has won both of his bouts since being released by the UFC this past March.
Joining them on the iconic event’s 2010 card is an open-weight pairing between event-regular “Minowaman” Minowa and Hiroshi Izumi, as well as a match-up featuring Tokoro taking on Kazuhisa Watanabe.
The four fights bring the officially revealed total to nine. Already announced are a duo of title-fights featuring featherweight Bibiano Fernandes putting his belt on the line against Hiroyuki Takaya and 170-pound striker Marius Zaromskis drawing legendary Japanese competitor Kazushi Sakuraba. Caol Uno and Shinya Aoki are also slated for separate action at the event, in addition to a highly anticipated clash between Josh “Punk” Thomson and Tatsuya Kawajiri.
