After earning a crack at Strikeforce 135-pound female champion Marloes Coenen’s belt with a pair of wins in a single-night tournament this past August, it appears Miesha Tate finally has a date in mind for her attempt at hoisting up promotional gold.
According to Tate, she is starting her training camp for Coenen in the coming days with March 5 targeted for the bout’s occurrence. Though Strikeforce has not officially announced the fight or the attached event, the company is rumored to be putting on a show in Columbus, Ohio on the stated date.
The 24-year old grappler revealed her hopes via Twitter.
Tate’s wins over Hitomi Akano and Maiju Kujala at Strikeforce Challengers 10 improved her record to 11-2. She has had her hands raised in ten of her last eleven bouts including a decision victory over Bellator champ Zoila Frausto.
Coenen last fought in October, winning the belt by tapping out Sarah Kaufman with an Armbar at “Strikeforce – Diaz vs. Noon 2”. She is 18-4 overall with thirteen submissions to her credit.

Should be a hell of a fight as Tate is a much better grappler than Kaufmann, Marleos should have the advantage standing but a sub on Tate is a very tough thing to pull off. Great match up.
