The quartet of men competing for the honor of either becoming, or maintaining their status as, Strikeforce champion tomorrow night stepped on the scale in San Jose Thursday afternoon with all being on target meaning the event will go on as originally planned.
Interestingly enough, all four fighters actually came in slightly lower than their assigned weight limits. Middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was 184.25 pounds while hard-hitting contender Robbie Lawler hit 184 on the dot. Meanwhile, headliners Evangalista “Cyborg” Santos and 170-pound title-holder Nick Diaz matched each other’s weight at 169.5 pounds.
The foursome’s fellow main-card participants Roger Gracie and Trevor Prangley clocked in at 206 and 205.25 pounds respectively, while former football great Herschel Walker registered at 220.75 pounds for the second fight of his professional MMA career while opponent Scott Carson weighed 214.
“Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg” will be broadcast live on Showtime starting at 10:00 EST with live prelims broadcast on Sherdog starting at approximately 8:15 EST.
