It appears Strikeforce has taken a necessary step towards deepening their welterweight roster with the recent addition of 13-3 Jason High. Known for proudly representing his region, “The Kansas City Bandit” has emerged successful in his previous four outings including a submission of Rudy Bears in the opening minute of action of their bout at Titan FC 16 in January.
News of High’s signing was reported by MMAJunkie. No specific date or opponent for his debut was mentioned.
The 29-year old grappler made a name for himself after opening up his career with seven straight wins before falling to Jay Hieron at an Affliction event in January 2009. He then racked up victories over Yuya Shirai and Andre Galvao in DREAM before losing to Marius Zaromskis in the final of the promotion’s Welterweight Grand Prix.
High went 4-1 in 2010 and injects some much-needed energy into Strikeforce’s semi-stagnant 170-pound pool. He has finished nine of the thirteen opponents he’s beaten with the bulk of his victories coming by way of tap-out.
