A pair of unbeatens will look to continue their winning ways in the ring tomorrow night on Showtime when lightweights Lyle Beerbohm and Ryan Couture square off in co-headlining bouts Friday night at Strikeforce Challengers 14. Both men stepped on the scale today in Cedar Park, Texas along with the other ten individuals set for action at the Cedar Park Center and made weight meaning the event will go on as originally scheduled.
Make sure to check Five Ounces of Pain tomorrow night for live results from the arena starting at approximately 8:00 PM EST.
Beerbohm currently holds a record of 15-0 including Strikeforce victories over Vitor Ribeiro and Duane Ludwig. “Fancy Pants” will take on grizzled veteran Pat Healy in the evening’s main event. Healy is coming off a loss to Josh Thomson in his last outing but holds past wins over respected adversaries such as Paul Daley, Dan Hardy, and Carlos Condit.
Meanwhile, Couture will seek success for the second time underneath the Strikeforce banner. Playfully dubbed “Natural Light” as tribute to the nickname assigned to his father, MMA icon Randy Couture, the 28-year old is set to face Lee Higgins in hopes of going 2-0 as a pro.
