Bellator Season 4 Light Heavyweight Tournament fires up on March 26

Eight men will take the first step on a three fight journey towards becoming Bellator Fighting Championships’ first 205-pound title-holder and netting $100,000 in prize money later this month at Bellator 38 in Mississippi. According to a press release from the promotion, the show will take place at the Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino in Tunica Resorts on March 26 and feature the quarter-final sound of Bellator’s Season 4 Light Heavyweight Tournament. Match-ups are expected to be announced soon.

“We are thrilled to be bringing our live MTV2 broadcast to the great State of Mississippi and to the magical Harrah’s Tunica. This will be a spectacular show featuring eight world class Light Heavyweights,” said Bellator chief executive Bjorn Rebney.

Notable is the show’s start-time of 7:00 PM EST rather than two hours later as is normally the case. Though absent an official explanation it is likely the shift is out of accommodation for UFC Fight Night 24, also on 3/26 and scheduled to be broadcast on Spike TV. Spike and MTV2 are both owned by Viacom and Rebney has openly spoken of the possibility in recent conversations with various media outlets.

The field fighting in the opening round of the Bellator Season 4 Light Heavyweight Tournament are Daniel Gracie, Nik Fekete, Chris Davis, D.J. Linderman, Tim Carpenter, Christian M’Pumbu, Richard Hale, and Raphael Davis.
