Bellator takes final step towards Season 4 debut with successful weigh-in

The eight individuals competing later tonight at Bellator 35 in the opening round of the company’s Season 4 Welterweight Tournament took to the scale on Thursday in Lemoore, California at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino and checked in accordingly with no issues in the bunch meaning the televised broadcast will go on as originally planned.

Strikeforce and UFC veteran Jay Hieron matched opponent Anthony Lapsley at 170.75 pounds while former Bellator Fightings Championships welterweight title-holder Lyman Good (170.75) was a quarter-click heavier than Chris Lozano (170.5). Their fellow tournament participants will all enter this evening’s event with a half-pound difference between foes, as Olympic-level judoka Rick Hawn was 170.5 for his test of discipline against fellow judo practitioner Jim Wallhead (170) while Dan Hornbuckle was 170 on the dot with Brent Weedman being 169.5.

Also notable at the weigh-ins, Bellator 115-pound champ Zoila Frausto came in at 125.5 for her non-title affair with Karina Hallinan who was 124.5 respectively.

Additionally, Waachim Spiritwolf was 173.5 for a preliminary scrap with Jamie Jara (174.5). The two are set to compete at 175 pounds explaining the irregular measurement.
