UFC expands Fight Night 24 Facebook coverage with addition of three bouts

In their never-ending quest to bring live MMA to the masses the UFC has decided to add an extra ninety minutes to their live Facebook stream planned this Saturday night in conjunction with a handful of preliminary bouts from UFC Fight Night 24. As such, rather than only showing two undercard match-ups the broadcast will feature a total of five fights and start at 7:30 PM EST in order to accommodate the necessary time.

Joining the quartet of competitors previously announced for the stream are bouts between bantamweights Edwin Figueroa and Michael McDonald, welterweights John Hathaway and Kris McCray, and heavyweights Sean McCorkle and Christian Morecraft.

The 11-1 Figueroa will be making his Zuffa debut after going 7-0 to open up his career with all of his in-ring success coming as the result of finishing performances. His opponent, McDonald, will also be stepping into the Octagon for the first time though he went 1-0 in WEC. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak including strike-based victories over Cole Escovedo and Manny Tapia. Like Figueroa he has yet to go the distance meaning fans should be in for a treat when things open up online.

On the opposite end of the size-spectrum from the 135ers, McCorkle and Morecraft both stand over 6’6” but also have a propensity for sealing the deal before scorecards come into play with only a single decision in sixteen total victories between them. Both men also happen to be coming off knockout losses to Stefan Struve so more may be on the line than simply “W” where future employment is concerned.

Finally, highly-touted prospect Hathaway will also be looking to bounce back defeat after being outpointed by Mike Pyle at UFC 120. The Brit holds an overall record of 14-1 with notable victories over Rick Story and Diego Sanchez. McCray, who is 5-2 respectively, is coming off consecutive losses including a TUF 10 Finale stumble to season champ Court McGee. However, all five of his prior wins were the result of a TKO/submission.

In addition to the trio of new fights, the preliminary stream from “UFN 24: Nogueira vs. Davis” will also feature Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres making his UFC debut against WEC veteran Mackens Semerzier as well Mike Russow mixing it up with undefeated Jon Madsen. The main card will start live on Spike TV at 10:00 PM EST (10:00 PST tape-delayed on the West Coast).
