Justin Edwards joins TUF 13 cast as Keon Caldwell’s replacement

Most people tuning in Wednesday night to the Ultimate Fighter 13 were likely disappointed at the decision of contestant Keon Caldwell turning in his Team Dos Santos colors and sacrificing the opportunity of a lifetime by walking away from the show. However, at least one viewer likely felt anything but dismay at Caldwell’s choice – his replacement, Justin Edwards.

Edwards is an undefeated fighter out of Ohio who trains with Jorge Gurgel’s team who has finished all five of the opponents he’s faced in the first round including four by way of submission. He also holds a 2009 Guillotine Choke win over John Troyer under the Bellator banner, as well as a TKO over original Ultimate Fighter alumnus Josh Rafferty from 2008.

News of Edwards’ addition to the cast was revealed by means of a congratulatory post from coach Gurgel by way of his Facebook page where he wrote, “Now we have a good reason to sit down and watch TUF. Our boy Justin Edwards gets to the house next episode! I already feel bad for the others,” while also adding a smiley-face to the end.

Fans who watched Wednesday may recall Edwards was labeled as potentially being a bit of a loose cannon in the preview for next week’s episode. Whether Gurgel’s statement was referring to his unique personality, his skills, or most likely a combination of the two remains to be seen.
