The Texas-based Shark Fights promotion will venture outside of the Lone Star State for the first time later this month in the form of Shark Fights 15, a show set to take place in Albuquerque on May 27. Though the full line-up is still being finalized it appears the card will be headlined by New Mexico’s own Joey Villasenor in action against UFC veteran Chris Camozzi.
News of the date, location, and main event were announced in an official press release from the company.
Villasenor has struggled with inactivity as of late and is coming off back-to-back losses but still considered to a significant threat to all he faces considering past victories over opponents like Phil Baroni, Evangelista Santos, David Louiseau, and Jorge Santiago. “Smokin” Joe holds an overall record of 27-8 including twenty-two finishing performances with a near-even split between TKOs/submissions.
This month’s event will mark the 14-4 Camozzi’s first match-up since a 2-1 run in the Octagon with his most recent appearance being tapped out by Kyle Noke at UFC 127 in February. Prior to the defeat he had won four straight fights
More Shark Fights 15 bouts are expected to be announced in the near future.
