The city of Houston will play host for a second time to a battle between area favorites Chad Robichaux and Humberto DeLeon when they meet as a featured part of Legacy Fighting Championship’s upcoming event on July 16 at the Houston Arena Theater. The two talented Texans previously fought to an exciting, extremely close Split Decision on the preliminary portion of “Strikeforce: Houston” this past August.
Five Ounces of Pain was able to confirm the match-up with Robichaux’s management with an official announcement expected sometime soon. No word was given on the weight the bout will be contested at but it will likely be slightly south of 135-pounds given their original Strikeforce fight came at a catchweight of 130.
Robichaux, a Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt and former Special Forces Recon Marine with multiple tours in the Middle East, was last seen giving Bellator bantamweight title-holder Zach Makovsky a go in April at Bellator 41. Though he ultimately fell by TKO midway through the third, also suffering the first loss of his career in the process, “Robo” put forth a spirited effort against the champ until the end. Prior to the defeat Robichaux had won eleven straight with DeLeon being the only opponent before Makovsky to escape without suffering a submission loss.
While DeLeon has not necessarily has the same success as his upcoming opponent, his toughness is hard to doubt as evident by the fact he’s never been finished in eleven professional fights with five decision losses including four straight. Comparably all six of the 21-year old’s victories have been the result of locking in an Armbar and forcing the tap.
