Stephan Bonnar meets Karlos Vemola at UFC on Versus 5

Fans of exciting fighters will be pleased to know that Stephan Bonnar will be back in action this August. “The American Psycho” will look to put together his first three fight win streak since 2006 but he first must get past former heavyweight Karlos Vemola. The fight is scheduled to take place at UFC on Versus 5 in Milwaukee.

Bonnar confirmed the fight via his TrashTalkinKids Twitter account.

The Ultimate Fighter 1 finalist is one of the most popular fighters in MMA due to his exciting “all out” style. He hit a rough patch in his MMA career from 2008 to early 2010 when he suffered a serious knee injury and then returned to lose three straight fights in the UFC. He rebounded strong at UFC 116 with a victory over Krzysztof Soszynski and followed that up with a victory over Igor Pokrajac at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale.

Vemola is coming off an impressive TKO victory over Seth Petruzelli at UFC 122 in his light heavyweight debut. The performance earned him “Knockout of the Night” honors. Prior to that victory, Vemola suffered the first loss of his career at heavyweight to Jon Madsen in his UFC debut last July.

UFC on Versus 5 is scheduled for August 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Also on the card is a welterweight showdown between top strikers Duane Ludwig and Amir Sadollah.

  • Cool. it sucks that Stephan is kind of stuck as a gatekeeper forever, but at least you know this fight’ll be exciting.

At this stage in his career btn the mic work and the gate keeping I’d be pretty happy if I was him…there’s plenty of other fighters that are on oar with his skill set that do not call the UFC home and don’t have an opportunity for other gigs in the industry… Although well deserved Bonnar is a lucky guy and it’s all thanks to TUF

He does aspire for more than he’s been given. He was pretty clear on last week’s Inside MMA that he lobbied for a fight with Rich Franklin, but was denied. A couple of more wins and we’ll get to see him get destroyed again by an upper-echelon LHW. Always entertaining to watch though.
