After playing a part in back-to-back “Fight of the Night” performances, 12-3 striker Jared Hamman will drop down from 205 to give it a go at middleweight on August 14 at UFC Live 5. Standing opposite from Hamman when the lights dim in Milwaukee will be Ultimate Fighter 7 finalist C.B. Dollaway.
News of the match-up was first reported on the UFC’s website.
Dollaway has won three of his last four fights but is coming off an opening round knockout loss to Mark Munoz at UFC Live 3 this past March. A decorated wrestler in college, the 27-year old has matching “Submission of the Night” honors to his credit and has racked up an 11-3 record since turning pro a little less than five years ago. He holds past wins over then-undefeated Goran Reljic, Jesse Taylor, and Joe Doerksen.
Though their records are similar, Hamman is in a slightly different spot than “The Doberman” as far his place on the roster with a pair of losses in his previous three bouts. However, the Californian notched notable victories over Travis Wiuff and Aaron Rosa while competing at a heavier weight, so he may very well be a name to watch at 185-pounds with the divisional transition now being made official.
Other fights scheduled for the August card include Jim Miller attempting to solidify a future lightweight title shot against former WEC champ Ben Henderson, Chris Lytle banging it out with popular Brit Dan Hardy, and TUF 7 champ Amir Sadollah furthering his in-ring development against heavy-handed veteran Duane Ludwig.
