Employment in the UFC can often be similar to an at-bat in baseball as welterweight John Howard was reminded of recently. Howard, whose hard-fought loss to Matt Brown last month at UFC Live 4 marked his third straight defeat, was sent packing this week as the result of consecutive strikes against him and now finds himself looking for a new team to latch onto.
Howard confirmed the news through a video on Twitter where he expressed both acceptance and understanding where the company’s decision was concerned.
“It is what it is, man. You get three straight losses in the UFC and this is what happens – you get kicked out of the UFC. I’m not too mad about it. It’s whatever,” Howard explained while adding he was looking at Bellator and DREAM as future options.
The exit unfortunately ends what started as a solid run in the Octagon for Howard who had won all four of his in-ring appearances prior to the three-fight slide. He holds an overall record of 14-7 with ten finishing performances including knockout wins over Daniel Roberts and Dennis Hallman.
