After shattering North American attendance records in April with UFC 129 it was only a matter of time before the UFC booked a trip back to Toronto. However, little did fans realize at the time the promotion’s follow-up festivities would occur less than a year from Georges St. Pierre’s successful title-defense against Jake Shields.
According to a report on ESPN citing Zuffa executive Lorenzo Fertitta, the Octagon will make its return to Ontario’s capitol on December 10 though isn’t planning an attempt at matching the scope of their earlier stop.
The event, still absent any rumored bouts given the time involved, will unfold at the Air Canada Centre, a venue with less than half the 55,000+ seating capacity of the Rogers Centre where UFC 129 took place. UFC 140 will mark the company’s third Canadian card of 2011.
