One of the most exciting 205-pound prospects in recent history, Lorenz Larkin, will return to the Strikeforce ring next month in hopes of maintaining an impressive unbeaten streak already including two victories in the organization.
According to a press release from his management, Larkin will face Team Quest competitor Virgil Zwicker on September 23 at Strikeforce Challengers 19 as part of a lineup already featuring Ryan Couture. Zwicker also confirmed the bout through his Twitter page.
“I want to come out and put on a great show for the fans, and I can’t wait to fight in Vegas for the first time in my career,” Larkin explained of his upcoming match-up with Zwicker.
The 11-0 Larkin has emerged with his hands raised all eleven times he’s stepped into the cage thus far in his career including eight TKOs. Equally impressive as his record, the 24-year old has exhibited a creative approach to striking reminiscent of Strikeforce star Cung Le. He most recently fought in June at Strikeforce Challengers 16 where he beat Gian Villante via Unanimous Decision.
Zwicker, who himself is no slouch with a 10-2 record, was last seen finishing Brent Albee by way of TKO in the first round this past April at “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” and also owns a strike-based win over Ovince St. Preux from 2009. He has finished nine of the ten opponents he’s beaten.
