Forrest Griffin could miss six months with UFC 134 injuries

Former UFC light heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin has only entered the Octagon twice since 2009 and, unfortunately, it appears fans will have awhile to wait before he returns again – possibly even another six months – based on damage he sustained in a knockout loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last weekend at UFC 134.

According to a list of medical suspensions provided to MixedMartialArtsNews by the UFC, who oversaw the event themselves due to a lack of standard athletic commission in Brazil, Griffin is suspended for 180 days due to foot and jaw injuries though can come back sooner with a doctor’s clearance.

Three other athletes share a similar fate to Griffin’s with Stanislov Nedkov (nasal fracture), Raphael Assuncao (nasal fracture), and Ian Loveland (chest) also being handed a mandated vacation for 180 days until getting a green-light from a physician.
