14-3 featherweight Robert Peralta appears poised to make his UFC debut later this month in New Orleans at the UFC Battle on the Bayou after recently being added as a replacement for Mackens Semerzier in a bout against submission specialist Mike Lullo.
Though nothing official has been announced by the UFC, Peralta’s status as an alternate for Semerzier on September 17 was confirmed earlier today by his representative Jeff Clark through Twitter.
Peralta will enter the evening having won seven straight including a hotly contested outpointing of Hiroyuki Takaya at “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley”. The decision was the first of the Californian’s career with thirteen stoppages to his credit, eleven of which came via TKO.
The 8-3 Lullo is coming off a loss last November at UFC 123 when Edson Barboza chopped him down with leg kicks early on in the fight’s final frame. The defeat snapped an eight-fight winning streak for the 32-year old.
UFC Battle on the Bayou, also known as UFN 25, is headlined by former Strikeforce middleweight champ Jake Shields’ courageous clash with Jake Ellenberger less than a month after the passing of his father, and will also feature match-ups including Alan Belcher vs. Jason MacDonald and Court McGee vs. Dongi Yang.
