Strikeforce Grand Prix Semifinals set as all fighters make weight

They may have lost their heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem to the UFC but Strikeforce certainly still has a heavyweight division, a fact being put on display this weekend with the semifinal round of the promotion’s ongoing World Grand Prix.

With Josh Barnett vs. Sergei Kharitonov and Antonio Silva vs. Daniel Cormier the show is a solid one made rock-hard by other intriguing bouts taking place including a middleweight title-fight between champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Luke Rockhold, as well as Mo Lawal fighting Roger Gracie, Pat Healy in action against Maximo Blanco, and appearances from Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, Mike Kyle, and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante.

The weigh-ins went off without a hitch as all fighters made weight. In one Semifinal fight, Silva and Cormier stood eye to eye, with the Brazilian crowding the American and giving him little space. In the other Semifinal fight, Barnett and Kharitonov squared off and, instead of mean mugging, shared a friendly laugh.
