Lightweight grappler Jacob Volkmann takes on proven finisher T.J. Grant at UFC 141

The latest bout added to the UFC’s annual New Year’s Eve Weekend event is almost certain to feature some form of finish considering the match-up’s participants.

According to the UFC, lightweight grapplers Jacob Volkmann and T.J. Grant will meet on December 30 at UFC 141 as part of a card headlined by former champion Brock Lesnar’s battle with devastating Dutch striker Alistair Overeem.

Grant was victorious in his lightweight debut after mixed results in the UFC at 170-pounds, locking in an Armbar on Shane Roller earlier this month at UFC Live 6 to pick his thirteenth win by way of submission in seventeen total wins. The 27-year old Canadian also holds past victories over Jason Burns and Ryo Chonan.

His opponent, playfully dubbed “Christmas” based on his resemblance to Jim Carrey’s character from Dumb and Dumber, will enter the evening on a four-fight winning streak with decisions over Antonio McKee and Danny Castillo in the bunch.

In addition to the above bouts, UFC 141 is also set to include Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks and Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko.
