Josh Koscheck not done calling Carlos Condit out yet

Josh Koscheck still has Carlos Condit in his sights after already challenging “The Natural Born Killer” in the weeks leading up to UFC 137.

“Kos” made a plea to UFC President Dana White to replace an injured Georges St. Pierre when the UFC welterweight king was forced out of a planned fight with Condit last weekend. However, Condit decided to remain on the sidelines and wait for his crack at St. Pierre’s championship that ultimately never came.

Now that Condit has been passed over by Nick Diaz he will have to take another fight – and win it – before he can fight for the divisional belt. As such, Koscheck has stepped in once again, asking to meet Condit over Super Bowl Weekend when Diaz-GSP takes place.

“Just thinking! That dude (Condit) should of took the fight with me on a week notice (because) if he HAD a chance to make it a close fight, it was then. NOW zero chance,” Koscheck wrote. “Just for the record, I’ll be ready to fight again by Feb. 4:) Training for (blank)????”

The 16-5 Koscheck defeated Matt Hughes at UFC 135 earlier this year in his return to action since falling to St. Pierre. Koscheck suffered a broken orbital bone in the loss to GSP and was forced to sit on the sidelines for an extended period to recover. The curly-coiffed Californian can lay claim to a number of solid wins in the UFC including past victories over Diego Sanchez, Anthony Johnson, Chris Lytle, and Paul Daley.

Man I hope they do this and make it a 5 rounder because Condit has a hell of a chin and will not quit in a fight, and with 5 rounds against a guy like Kos we could see a seriously exciting fight.

Personally, I think the winner of Fitch-Hendricks makes the most sense.

I wouldn’t mind this one either though.

  • Condit needs to fight someone ASAP not stay on the sidelines for a year waiting to fight the winner of GSP vs. Diaz…I think it should be Fitch or an Ellenberger rematch. Personally Kos has no business in the ring with Condit. Kos is overly lucky that Matt Hughes has no standup power otherwise HE’D have been the one KO’d last time out….Carlos will make short work of him…so go ahead and give him that fight…please.

I think Kos beats Condit, Diaz or Hendricks… True Matt Hughes was working the jab nicely but, Kos was looking for the KO victory…. He’ll out wrestle/control Diaz and outpower Hendricks and most likely just beat Condit…. Condit KO’d Hardy & the zombie but Koscheck is a FuCkiNg MONSTER!

What happens to the title picture if Kos beats Condit and Hendricks pulls off a miracle against Fitch? Kos doesn’t deserve a shot so soon after losing to GSP and Hendricks is a relative unknown. Sure there could be a Hendricks/Ellenburger face off, but it’s not like either of those two have a huge following. If Condit wants to fight, give him Fitch for the number #1 contender spot.

  • Koscheck is a fucking monster? No he’s not he’s a great wrestler with killer cardio and sucky boxing with power. Kim is a better grappler and Condit swept him in what 10 seconds? Paulo Thiago is a garbage striker and he caught Kos sleepin….dont get me wrong anything can happen but people really really need to go back and watch WEC…Condit didnt just beat guys he DESTROYED them. Diaz could maybe get out wrestled by Kos but then again both Diaz and NBK are slick as shit on the ground.
Im really startin to question the “lack” of depth in the 185 division…No one has been able to top GSP and we keep hearing how stacked 170 is but has GSP been anymore let alone AS impressive as The Spider?
I say the answer is no…both those divisions just have the top fighter at the top of them and that top fighter is just head and shoulders above the rest. Silva has far and away proved it (14-0 11 finishes, 1 guy injured and 2 decisions that he still handily won not even trying) If GSP gets past these next two then I’ll believe he IS that good. But he still needs to put together some finishes and I dont see him beating Condit or Diaz let alone finishing him. But COULD he beat either of them…of course he’s GSP…i just dont think he will.

Yeah Condit should have taken the fight with Kos, but who would have thought Diaz would get his title shot back?

I still think Condit would have a good chance of winning, even if Kos puts in a full training camp. Hughes was lighting Kos up until the end. :-(

Condit v Ellenberger makes the most sense, as Fitch is booked and Kos is only 1 fight removed from a lopsided loss to GSP. I don’t understand this rabid pro-Fitch contingent putting him in the permanent #2 spot. Who has Fitch beaten since his last shot at GSP? 5 lackluster decision wins against middle-to-lower-level talent and a draw against Penn, a natural 155 pounder. Plus he’s only fought 3 times in the past 2 years and once, so far, in 2011. The dude has zero momentum. Kos would beat Fitch if they’d just man up and fight each other.

climbarock- Ben Saunders was top 15. Paulo Thiago was top 10 and undefeated. Thiago Alves was top 3 in the UFC and top 5 in the world and that was supposed to be a #1 contenders fight. Yes Penn is a natural 155’er but he’s also the biggest win on Diaz’s record so why the does it count for NIck and not Fitch. As far as Fitch being booked, well so were GSP and Condit.
But you’re right about Fitch being inactive this past year. That’s why Condit is the true #1 contender at the moment.

How would you count a draw, exactly?

Just finished writing on another site how the Fitch/Hendricks fight should be shelved and a true #1 contender bout scheduled between Condit and Fitch.

I know a lot of fans think Fitch is less than scintillating as a control wrestler who has many decision wins, but I don’t see any logical argument that any other welter is a more legitimate #1. Also seems like Fitch is not currently held in the highest graces by the UFC powers that be, but his record speaks for itself with one loss and one draw in the last eight years on top of 21 wins…
