The fans turned up early in Birmingham, England and were rewarded for their punctuality with a highly entertaining event in the form of UFC 138. And, while the MMA community’s collective focus may have been on the evening’s main event between Chris Leben/Mark Munoz, the highlights came from a bunch of British fighters rather than the headlining Americans.
“Knockout of the Night” and $70,000 went to Che Mills for his destruction of TUF 13‘s Chris Cope, while “Submission of the Night” (and the money) went to his fellow Englander Terry Etim who submitted opponent Eddie Faaloloto in seventeen seconds.
Finally, though he came up short in the end, Brad Pickett pocketed seventy grand for his role in the card’s “Fight of the Night” where he and Renan Barao went toe-to-toe from start to finish. In the end, Barao ultimately choked Pickett out with less than a minute remaining in the opening round to pick up his mind-blowing 27th straight victory.
