The UFC 142 card continues to grow as the organization is stacking the event with some of the best Brazilian talent on the roster. Earlier today the UFC announced a lightweight match up between Sam Stout and Thiago Tavares and now they’ve added another lightweight bout between well-rounded competitors Terry Etim and Edson Barboza.
The UFC has confirmed the match up on their website.
After being out of action for 19 months, Etim returned to the octagon this past weekend at UFC 138, quickly dispatching of Eddie Faaloloto in front of his hometown British fans. The 25-year-old Brit is considered to be one of the top up-and-coming fighters in the division and is already a UFC veteran with nine fights under his belt. Etim has a 6-3 record in the organization and has fought the likes of Rich Clementi, Rafael dos Anjos, Stout, and Gleison Tibau.
Barboza is no stranger to fighting on the big stage in Brazil, having competed at UFC 134 earlier this year. He’s coming off back-to-back Fight of the Night performances against Anthony Njokuani and Ross Pearson. Both were decision victories for the Brazilian. Also 25 years of age, Barboza doesn’t have the MMA experience of his opponent but has competed in over 25 kickboxing bout and posses some of the deadliest leg kicks in the sport.
