Wanderlei Silva reflects on past, looks at present in revealing video

Wanderlei Silva knows how important his bout Saturday night with Cung Le at UFC 139 is for his career.

“The Axe Murderer” has lost three of his last four fights inside the Octagon, including two by way of knockout. Sitting at 33-11-1 in his career, and having not won since 2008, Silva has put in plenty of effort to prepare himself for a war with Le.

Silva recently allowed UFC cameras to follow him during a training session for Le, a fighter making his debut in the UFC after a storied run as a San Shou kickboxer and success in Strikeforce. In the clip Silva reflects on his early days, recounting experiences in Chute Boxe alongside former trainer Rafael Cordeiro as they work together at Kings MMA.

Silva-Le will serve as the co-main event to the PPV card, while Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson meet in the main event from San Jose, California with other match-ups including Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles and Rick Story vs. Martin Kampmann.

Man I have always loved the Axe Murderer, but I was saying he should retire after his back to back ko losses in Pride to Cro Cop and Hendo. Since then it’s just been a train wreck watching one of the all time greats get knocked into la la land every other fight.

This is not the way any legend should go out in my opinion, he’s a true fighter and that’s why he’ll never know when to call it quits, I hope after he gets ko’d this weekend he realizes it’s time to hang them up.

I love ya Wandy please ride off into the sunset dude, I can’t stand seeing ya get trounced by guys like Chris Leben. Let’s face it when Wandy was king Leben wouldn’t have been worthy of carying his towel into the ring for him, now he’s getting ko’d by the guy.
