Rick Story reveals that he fought injured at UFC 139

Rick Story didn’t have the ability to go hard against Martin Kampmann in their fight this past weekend at UFC 139. Now, a few days removed from the bout, Story is revealing why.

Kampmann took home a Split Decision, handing “The Horror” his second consecutive loss inside the Octagon after being defeated by Charlie Brenneman earlier this year.

“I wanted to apologize to all of my fans for my last performance. I ruptured my bursa (sac) and tore my meniscus in the second round. I lost all strength and made it difficult to fight,” Story wrote on his Twitter account.

Story, however, revealed some good news, saying that he recently signed a four-fight contract with the UFC and is expecting to return to action in the middleweight division very soon. Prior to his losses to Kampmann and Brenneman, Story had won six straight fights, including victories over Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks.

Well, if someone said it on the Internet then it has to be true.

“The bursae rest at the points where internal functionaries, such as muscles and tendons, slide across bone. Healthy bursae create a smooth, almost frictionless functional gliding surface making normal movement painless”

    Took me one Google search.

  • eh…its part of the game…great job on continuing to fight on but it would’ve impressed me more had he won. Either way I still think Story has a long and bright future ahead of him and were he trainin for a wrestler instead of a true striker he’d have beaten the hell out of The Spaniard.
