Kampmann took home a Split Decision, handing “The Horror” his second consecutive loss inside the Octagon after being defeated by Charlie Brenneman earlier this year.
“I wanted to apologize to all of my fans for my last performance. I ruptured my bursa (sac) and tore my meniscus in the second round. I lost all strength and made it difficult to fight,” Story wrote on his Twitter account.
Story, however, revealed some good news, saying that he recently signed a four-fight contract with the UFC and is expecting to return to action in the middleweight division very soon. Prior to his losses to Kampmann and Brenneman, Story had won six straight fights, including victories over Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks.
