Marcin Held vs. Phillipe Nover
Fight Recap: First round was close with Held constantly going for leg locks, including rolling for one while standing and diving for one while on his back. When it was on the feet, Nover got the better of things on the feet but Held was very aggressive off his back. The second round was more clear cut as Held couldn’t mount anything off his back with Nover made him pay with some heavy ground and pound. Held was very aggressive in the third but Nover stayed calm, weathered the storm, and then took over with his wrestling. Held kept going for leg locks but Held avoided them and made him pay. Good fight with plenty of action. Nover should take the decision.
Marcin Held def. Phillipe Nover via Split Decision
Eduardo Dantas vs. Alexis Vila
Fight Recap: Vila scored with an early and late takedown in round one but did nothing with them. The rest of the round was spent in the clinch with Vila controlling the majority of the action. Neither man did much damage though. Vila had less success getting takedowns and closing the distance in the second round, which allowed Dantas to open up on the feet and score with some good punches and knees. This fight should be even heading into the third. Dantas continued to get the better of things in the stand up in round three. During a scramble, Dantas got the back of Vila and held the position for nearly half the round, trying but failing to finish with the rear naked choke. Dantas won rounds two and three, which should give him the decision.
Result: Eduardo Dantas def. Alexis Vila via Unanimous Decision
Patricky Freire vs. Kurt Pellegrino
Fight Recap: Freire dropped Pellegrino early with a right hand. Pellegrino dove for a leg but Freire kept pounding on him until the ref stopped the fight. The stoppage was a bit questionable as Pellegrino was trying to roll and move but Freire did have both arms trapped and was landing some good hammerfists.
Result: Patricky Freire def. Kurt Pellegrino via TKO Round 1 (Strikes)
Eric Prindle vs. Thiago Santos
Fight Recap: Santos got a couple of early takedowns and then, while he was standing over Prindle, field goal kicked him in the groin. The fight was halted and Prindle took his time to try and shake off the pain. After consulting with the doctors, it was ruled that Prindle couldn’t continue. The most anti-climatic ending ever. The bout is ruled a no contest, which means the two men will rematch at a later date.
Result: Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos ends via No Contest (Illegal Groin Strikes)
